Advent Hill Zone - ACT 6!

Salutations from the Advent Hill Zone, where Sonic and friends have been pouring out of a box with tiny doors to assist us in counting down the days til Christmas!

Day 6 and another decently-sized box! Let's crack it open.

Grab the bug spray! We've just let loose a Buzz Bomber!

Star Post #1: General Info

Buzz Bombers (or "Beetons" in Japanese) made their debut in the original Sonic the Hedgehog as essentially the prototype for all the high-flying Badniks that've harassed Sonic and friends ever since. In their original appearance, they fly in, stop, and shoot a diagonal shot that Sonic must avoid. Like a lot of Badniks, they can be easily dispatched by jumping on them. They've also appeared in a decent number of subsequent titles, often with changes to their design, behavior, and attack patterns. (The figure we just got, for instance, is specifically based on how Buzz Bombers appear in Sonic Lost World and the Runners mobile games.)

Star Post #2: Trivia

Buzz Bomber is a rarity among Badniks in that some variation of it has appeared in almost every Sonic cartoon (minus X and Underground,) the OVA, comics published by Archie, Fleetway, AND IDW, and even the second live-action movie! The animated cameos often came with radical redesigns (like the one from SatAM shown above) and even the occasional name change (they were called "Bee Bots" for most of Sonic Boom for the sake of simplicity,) but it really goes to show just how truly iconic this floating pest is.

Goal Plate: Closing Thoughts

Our first Badnik, and a neat little guy at that! The clear stand that he comes with to support him is an especially nice touch.

Another day in the can, but be sure to come back tomorrow for the conclusion of our first full week in the Advent Hill Zone!
