The Christmas Fallout - 2018!

Hope ya'll have had a fun and fulfilling holiday so far. I had an absolutely fantastic Christmas yesterday with the family and from the food to the games to the gifts, everything hit a homerun this year. Definitely one of my favorites in recent memory, even despite the like four hours of sleep I had gotten the night before. (Sleeping schedules, amiright?)

Anyway, on to the purpose of this post: showing off my loot! Welcome to my first Christmas Fallout, an old tradition of Matt of XE/Dino Drac that I always loved, so I couldn't pass up making it a thing on my blog as well! How it works: I share off my Christmas haul and ya'll can even join in with yours in the comments below. Let the fun begin!

$25 Amazon Gift Card

The first thing I got for Christmas I had actually gotten a week or two before thanks to some family friends who dropped by for some pre-holiday celebrations. Saving this puppy for that one movie about Zangief's specifically-shaven body and Sonic's book club.

Deadpool 2 (Blu-ray)
Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (Blu-ray Combo)
Ralph Breaks the Internet Domez Blind Bags (Got 8-Bit Ralph and Vanellope!)
Kingdom Hearts Domez Blind Bags (Got Mickey and Goofy!)
Peanut Butter M&Ms

Stocking loot usually treats me pretty well and this year was no exception. Four Domez figures based on Disney-related things I love (Even got my most wanted fig out of the Ralph bags!), Blu-rays for movies I enjoyed, and when it comes to M&Ms, few are finer (or more addictive) than Peanut Butter.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Pokemon Let's Go! Eevee
Super Mario Party
Mario Tennis Aces
Kirby Star Allies
The World Ends With You Final Remix
Dragon Ball FighterZ (Switch)
Gamecube Controller Smash Ultimate Edition

Christmas and Birthdays are where I play catch-up on video games, so as expected, I got a lot of them. Obviously Smash Ultimate was the first one I jumped into and I've already unlocked all of my mains through Classic Mode. Also played a little bit of FighterZ and looking forward to getting into the real meat of the original story.

Not exactly a game but related is a Smash Ultimate Gamecube Controller, because I can never resist refreshing my stock whenever they become available again.

Digimon Adventure tri. Loss (Blu-ray Combo)
Digimon Adventure tri. Coexistence (Blu-ray Combo)
Digimon Adventure tri. Future (Blu-ray Combo)
Pokemon Advanced Battle the Complete Collection

All the Mons! The Digimon Adventure saga is at last completed on my DVD shelves (for now) and all of 4Kids' original Pokemon seasons are finally at my beck and call. (Now all we need are rereleases for Chronicles, the Winter Vacations, Mewtwo Returns, and the Pikachu shorts. HINT HINT VIZ!)

Miles Morales the Ultimate Spider-Man Ultimate Collection Volume 3
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Volume 5
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Volume 6
Invader Zim Volume 1 Deluxe Edition
Invader Zim Volume 2 Deluxe Edition

Also typically add to my comic collection on such occasions. Finally completed Miles Morales' adventures in the Ultimate Universe (Minus Secret Wars, but eh), started preparations for collecting Shattered Grid this time next year, and what with me finishing off my Invader Zim house box earlier in the year, I thought these HUGE Deluxe Edition books would be a good place to start collecting the comics.

Ralph Breaks the Internet: Click Start
The Art of Ralph Breaks the Internet
Ralph Breaks the Internet 2019 Calendar

Your favorite movie ever only gets a sequel once in a blue moon (especially if it's a Disney animated movie), so had to get as much Ralph Breaks the Internet stuff as I could before the franchise went back into hibernation.

Click Start reimagines early parts of the movie with extra bits in a fun choose-your-own adventure style comic. (Plus an extra story by Amy Mebberson of Princess Comics fame that takes place AFTER the movie.)

I already had the art book for the first movie, so of course, I had to complete the duo. Only skimmed it, but really interesting stuff so far. (It's funny how BOTH movies cut scenes where Ralph was thrown in jail.)

Always get a Calendar for Christmas, so I couldn't pass up the chance to give my walls some more Ralph love.

Tomy Metal Sonic Plush

Now THIS guy was a surprise! My Sister and parents picked him up for me at Target while Black Friday shopping. My Mom was actually leaning towards a Mario plush, but my Sis told her I'd like Metal better. Considering I didn't have a Metal plush of ANY KIND before, I'd say she was right on the money.

Funko Pop! Ralph Breaks the Internet Wreck-It Ralph Vinyl Figure
Bowser and Geno T-Shirt
Ralph and Vanellope Sticker

That wasn't the only time this year that my Sis had the right instincts in picking out Christmas gifts, as her and her husband's formal gifts to me completely delighted me. I wanted to add that updated Ralph Pop to my collection ever since it was revealed and that T-Shirt absolutely made my day. Might be my favorite gift this year, in fact. IT'S GENO AND BOWZ, GUYS! FREAKING GENO ON MY SHIRT!

$35 Nintendo eShop Card

My favorite Cousin also dropped by as she usually does around the holidays and provided me the means to pick up the Smash Ultimate Fighters Pass and both of South Park Fractured but Whole's story DLC packs.

Not pictured, but my Grandma also gave me the usual 50 bucks she always does at her dinner which I've already used to pre-order a certain upcoming 3DS remake and also procure something that I might go into on the blog eventually...

Finally, I won Sockemer Boppers in a random gift swap game.

Told ya it was one for the books.

How were YOUR celebrations and hauls this year? Drop a comment and get in on the Christmas Fallout spirit!

Astral's Advent Observations - FINALE!!

Welcome back to Astral's Advent Observations and IT'S CHRISTMAS EVE!!!! WE MADE IT TO THE END! LET'S FINISH OFF THIS PUPPY!

24 is our lucky number...

It ends with the most fitting of Trap Cards, Oh Tokenbaum!

General Observation:

Oh Tokenbaum! allows you to tribute at least two Tokens of the same level to special summon the same number of Monsters of that level from your Graveyard. (Their effects are negated and they're destroyed at the End Phase.) A very interesting effect, as you could in theory gain from it in a variety of ways depending on what level Tokens you tribute. For example, if you go for lower-level Tokens, you could mainly use the newly-summoned Monsters as material for an XYZ or Synchro Summon or even disposable offerings for a tribute summon. (If your Tokens couldn't already be used as them.) If you go for, say, Emmisary of Darkness Tokens, though, you could bring back powerful Monsters briefly and use them to either clear out a problem Monster on your opponent's field followed by a direct attack for good measure, use the previously-mentioned different summoning methods, or even try a Fusion Summon. Despite seeming like a strange effect, it's a surprisingly versatile card and a good end to the Calendar!

Trivia Observation:

Oh Tokenbaum! was originally printed in the TCG set, Shadow Specters. Like Gift Exchange previously, this card was released in Japan close to the holidays. (Only it was December 23rd, 2012 instead of 2014, so you could sorta consider this a prequel card to Gift Exchange what with the release similarities and both cards featuring Goblins.) This card also features slightly censored artwork, as the original featured more obvious Sheep Token consumption by the Goblins. (Which are replaced by weird egg things in the international version.) Last but most obviously, this card's name is a Token-based pun on the classic holiday song, Oh Tannenbaum. (The German equivalent to Oh Christmas Tree.)

Personal Observation:

Yep. Learned of this card's existence while researching Gift Exchange and had a feeling it'd be our final card. Couldn't think of a better one to pick for the Eve.

Well, we did it! 24 days with 24 different cards complete with trivia and the best strategies I could dig out of my pea brain. Gotta say, it was a fun challenge. It really put my inherent laziness to the test and it felt great to knock out a post each and every day. I don't know if Konami's gonna come out with a new Calendar next year, but rest assured, you have not seen the last of Advent Calendars on this blog. As long as I find one that interests me, chances are I'll make another special Christmas thing out of it for The Lazy Shell.

Anyway, thanks for sticking with me this whole month! It's easily been the most ambitious thing I've attempted with The Lazy Shell so far and to see at least a couple views on each and every post made me pretty happy. I'll see you back here later in the month for my first official Christmas Fallout post (stay tuned), but in the meantime, hope you all have yourself an amazing holiday season with laughs, loved ones, delicious food, and plenty of neat gifts. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas, guys. 😊

Astral's Advent Observations - DAY 23!

Welcome back to Astral's Advent Observations! Let's crack this box open...

*Xander Mobus voice* 1!!! *Xander Mobus voice*

Our semifinal box yields harsh weather! It's Hey, Trunade!

General Observation:

This card has the ability to return all set Spells and Traps to their owners' hands, thus it's VERY useful for temporarily disarming a minefield of potential Trap Cards. You could also use it to rearrange your own set Traps if you've drawn a better one since or one just doesn't seem like as great of an idea to use anymore.

Trivia Observation:

Hey, Trunade! was originally printed in the TCG set, Extreme Force. Despite not making any canon appearances yet, this card's art and name actually references two separate past cards: the Trap Card, Localized Tornado and the Spell Card favorite of Joey Wheeler's, Giant Trunade. (The latter of which is currently Forbidden in most tournament play, so consider today's card kind of a reworking of it to work in tourneys.) Beyond that, this card also features a much goofier reference in the source of its name...the commercial line for the popular Kool-Aid juice brand, "Hey, Kool-Aid!"

Personal Observation:

Huh. Didn't expect this one to show up. Biiiiiiit of a stretch with the Christmas connection since it's more of a Tornado than a Snowstorm and there were easily more fitting wintery cards they could've included instead, but whatevs. I'm all about that ridiculous Kool-Aid reference name.

That's all I've got for today, but don't miss tomorrow's Astral's Advent Observations FINALE!!

Astral's Advent Observations - DAY 22!

Welcome back to Astral's Advent Observations! Let's see what we've got in store for today...

*Xander Mobus voice* 2!! *Xander Mobus voice*

We got another Tuner, and a chilly one at that! It's Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries!

General Observation:

Ghost Reaper is yet another Monster with a very odd effect: you can discard it to banish Monsters that you and your opponent share in your Extra Decks. Doesn't hold much strategic value if you don't know your opponent's cards or strategies well enough, so it's mostly useful for Synchro Summoning and its above-average defense for a 3-star Monster.

Trivia Observation:

Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries was originally printed in the TCG set, Shining Victories. It has not made any appearances in Yu-Gi-Oh! media.

Personal Observation:

Huh. Guess I was lying about Toy Magician being the last card that I knew. Think I caught wind of this card being included in a Google search. Anyway, another interesting one.

That's all she wrote for today, but come back tomorrow for the LAST TWO DAYS of Astral's Advent Observations!

Friday, December 21, 2018

Astral's Advent Observations - DAY 21!

Welcome back to Astral's Advent Observations, where--oh, the heck with it! You already know what this is if you've been reading every previous day and if you REALLY started with 21...well, that's just odd.

*Xander Mobus voice* 3! *Xander Mobus voice*

Another Number! (...and an odd one at that.) It's Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir!

General Observation:

Very interesting effect on this one: If you keep it in attack mode, it can't be destroyed or targeted by your opponent's card effects. However, if it's on the defense, all Monsters on the field must remain in defense position and Monsters already on the field in defense get their effects negated. This could either be a good attacking force if you suspect your opponent has a Trap up their sleeve or a way to lock them down so you can either inflict effect damage or deck them out. However, you have to detach one XYZ material from this card per turn if you want to keep it on the field, so cards that replenish your material are a must if you plan on using it in any large combo.

Trivia Observation:

Bagooska was originally printed in the fairly recent TCG set, Circuit Break. Despite being a Number, it was never featured in any version of Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal. This card is also an esteemed member of the censored artwork club, as the original Japanese card (Seen above) featured giant bottles and flasks of Beer rather than pillows. (In fact, this card's Japanese name refers to it as a "Mud-Sleeping Demon Beast," to which "Mud-Sleeping" is a jape on being passed out from drinking too much!) Nice to see he sobered up for the West.

Personal Observation:

Another card I've never heard of and another weird one, too. Is the holiday connection supposed to be that Christmas Eve sleep before you open your loot or am I missing something? Whatever the case, it's cool adding yet another Number to my collection.

That's all there is today, but keep your feet planted at the Lazy Shell for the LAST THREE DAYS of Astral's Advent Observations!

Astral's Advent Observations - DAY 20!

Welcome back to Astral's Advent Observations, where we're warming ourselves by a cozy holiday fire while making sure not to sit too close to protect our beloved children's trading cards.

Dawn of the 20th day: 4 days remain.

Our next Ultra Rare digs back into the manga card well! It's Toy Magician!

General Observation:

This card has a pretty unusual effect: you can set it like a Spell or Trap and if your opponent destroys it, you can special summon it. Could be a good defense builder for cards that destroy everything on the field, but having to rely upon your opponent's card effect to use this skill makes it not entirely practical. It also has the power to destroy an equal number of Spell and Trap cards to the number of Toy Magicians present on the field, making it a good card to gather a playset for just in case. Moving past its effects, its attack strength is nice for a 4-star Monster and being a Spellcaster, it's compatible with a score of useful Spells and Traps such as One-Shot Wand.

Trivia Observation:

Toy Magician was originally printed in the TCG set, The Duelist Genesis. As stated previously, he's another manga card, being summoned by none other than Yugi Muto (Little Yugi) himself in Chapter 23 of the manga-exclusive story, Yu-Gi-Oh! R.

Personal Observation:

This is the last card that I knew was in the Calendar thanks to the press releases. Very happy to have it, as I personally collect cards used by both Yugi and Yami Yugi.

That wraps up our 20th day, but stick around for the LAST FOUR DAYS of Astral's Advent Observations!

Wednesday, December 19, 2018

Astral's Advent Observations - DAY 19!

Welcome back to Astral's Advent Observations, where the grand majority of this December has consisted of me celebrating the holidays by pulling trading cards out of a huge box.

We're down to our last row of doors!

What's a Christmas without Deer? It's an Ultra Rare copy of Valerifawn, Mystical Beast of the Forest!

General Observation:

Valerifawn lacks attack strength, but has the ability to resurrect one of your fallen lower-level Beast-type Monsters once per turn with the simple discard of a card. In addition to this, it's a Tuner, meaning you can use its ability to quickly gather material for a Synchro Summon. Since it's a Beast-type, it works great in a Beast-focused deck.

Trivia Observation:

Valerifawn was originally printed in the TCG set, The New Challengers. While it lacks any anime or manga love, it actually makes a cameo on another Monster card, Flower Cardian Maple with Deer. Valerifawn gets its name from the Valerian Sprig and, obviously, a Fawn.

Personal Observation:

Talk about perfectly timed! They JUST added this card to Duel Links and made me aware of it and now I have my own copy!

That's everything for today, but don't miss the LAST FIVE DAYS of Astral's Advent Observations!

Tuesday, December 18, 2018

Astral's Advent Observations - DAY 18!

Welcome back to Astral's Advent Observations, where trading card and anime factoids are somehow synonymous with Clark Griswold's infamous holiday rant and Chewbacca's beloved relatives, Itchy and Lumpy.

We're in the homestretch with only six days to go after this one!

The fast-approaching Christmas Eve is already shining on us with our first Ultra Rare card, Hoshiningen! (Or "Star Person," if you translate the Japanese.)

General Observation:

Hoshiningen is probably the oldest card we've gotten out of the Calendar yet, and its effect is fittingly basic as a result: it strengthens Light-attribute Monsters by 500 ATK and weakens Dark-attribute Monsters by 400 ATK. Could be useful with augmenting a Light Monster-heavy deck, but the drawback is that it's such a wimpy Monster that you'd have to protect it with a Spell or Trap in order to keep it around. However, since it takes up a spot on your field in order to use its effect, you'd probably be better off sticking to Field or Equip Spells to strengthen your Monsters instead.

Trivia Observation:

Hoshiningen was originally printed in the OLLLLLLLLD TCG set Metal Raiders. It has made one single, solitary appearance on the anime side of things and it's not exactly a flattering one: Yusaku, the main character of Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, showed it off among his "dummy deck" of terrible cards to his school's Duel Club in Episode 6 of VRAINS. (He keeps this deck on him to protect his secret identity as the vigilante duelist, Playmaker.) While you may feel sorry for Hoshiningen because of that particular factoid, it's kept in good spirit by the sheer fact that its Japanese name is, in fact, "Superstar."

Personal Observation:

Very interesting choice for our first Ultra. Might be fun to try making a gimmick deck with this guy.

That's all on our plate today, but stick around tomorrow for the next serving of Astral's Advent Observations!

Monday, December 17, 2018

Astral's Advent Observations - DAY 17!

Welcome back to Astral's Advent Observations, where we've been opening one little box per day and pulling out a children's trading card that we've been attempting to make interesting all in the pursuit of festivity.

It's Day 17! We've only got ONE WEEK LEFT of Days!

Today we've got another Monster with a penchant for fireworks! It's Lonefire Blossom!

General Observation:

Lonefire Blossom has a very straightforward effect and it's a nice boon for Plant Decks. When this card is on the field, once per turn, you can tribute any Plant-type Monster (including this one) to special summon any other Plant resting in your deck that can be special summoned this way. This allows you instant access to almost your entire catalog of Plant Monsters and affords you a ton of strategic opportunities depending on the situation!

Trivia Observation:

Lonefire Blossom was originally printed in the Phantom Darkness TCG set. It has made no canon appearances to speak of other than presence in the World Championship series games. Blazewing Butterfly makes a cameo in this card's art.

Personal Observation:

Never heard of this one, but it seems pretty useful. Guessing the holiday connection is lights or fireworks?

That's all there is for today, but come back tomorrow for another Astral's Advent Observations!

Sunday, December 16, 2018

Astral's Advent Observations - DAY 16!

Welcome back to Astral's Advent Observations, where we're revealing all of the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG Advent Calendar's innards day by day as we march towards the merriest day if the year.

Day 16! It stills feels like we just started this...

Another switch-up with a very appropriate card, it's the Spell Gift Exchange!

General Observation:

This is an understandably gimmicky card that isn't really that super useful unless you have an understanding of what's left in your opponent's deck. You both banish a card from your decks and at the End Phase, add that card to each other's hands. This COULD be used to either further the deck destruction of an already low deck or plant a dangerous card in your opponent's hand, but I feel there are way better cards to do that with. This one's all about the festivity.

Trivia Observation:

This card was originally printed in the TCG set Maximum Crisis, however, the real bit of trivia is when it was released in Japan. It was actually released December 20th, 2014 to celebrate the upcoming Christmas there, so you couldn't ask for a more appropriate card for an Advent Calendar! It has made no canon appearances yet, but another bit of trivia is pertaining to the Monster printed on that surly Goblin's new t-shirt. That Monster is Scrap Kong, and his dissatisfaction is actually a reference to a meme about how useless that card is!

Personal Observation:

Heh, I think I might have barely heard of this card, but I've never owned it, so really fun choice for an Advent Calendar.

That's all for Day 16, but come back tomorrow for Day 17 of Astral's Advent Observations!

Saturday, December 15, 2018

Astral's Advent Observations - DAY 15!

Welcome back to Astral's Advent Observations, a celebration of all things seasonal and card games.

Day 15 is upon us! Our remaining days are down to the single digits!

That's certainly a switch most of the way through the Calendar! Our first Trap Card, Token Feastevil!

General Observation:

Token Feastevil has the power to destroy all Tokens on the field when some are special summoned and inflict 300 damage to your opponent for each one. You could potentially create a strategy for a damage deck that revolves around repeatedly summoning Tokens just to destroy them with this card and further slug your opponent, or blow through the Tokens your opponent summoned to block you off, or even summon your own Tokens to activate this card when your opponent's field is stacked with them and take an even bigger bite out of them. Its effect is limited, but in the right situation, it could absolutely be a boon.

Trivia Observation:

Token Feastevil was originally printed in one of the first GX TCG sets, The Lost Millennium. It has not made any appearances, but it shares relation to two other Token support cards, the Spells Token Thanksgiving and Token Sundae, which also depict similar Goblins and Scapegoats.

Personal Observation:

Yep, run across this one before. I think it was actually the very first Ultimate Rare I pulled.

That's it for today, but tomorrow's another day for Astral's Advent Observations!

Friday, December 14, 2018

Astral's Advent Observations - DAY 14!

Welcome back to Astral's Advent Observations, where cards exit this festive box every day and we try to find some kind of link to the holidays.

Exactly two weeks in!

Guess we're having Chicken tonight! Today's card is Cockadoodledoo!

General Observation:

Cockadoodledoo is primarily useful for bringing out specific level Synchro Monsters, as it can be a level 3, 4, or 5 Tuner Monster depending on the field's current situation. It can also be special summoned, meaning it can also be a good defender against your opponent's lower level Monsters, as it has 2000 defense points.

Trivia Observation:

Cockadoodledoo was originally printed in the TCG set, Judgement of the Light. It only made minor appearances in the anime, as a part of Hero Chojiro's card collection starting in Episode 60 of Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V. It appears to be the older version of another Chicken Monster from the same original set, Cheepcheepcheep, who has the ability to special summon a level 5 Tuner (Like Cockadoodledoo) when it's flipped.

Personal Observation:

Another card I had very little knowledge of before and another that's a little odd for an Advent Calendar. What's the correlation between Christmas and Chickens? Aren't they more of an Easter thing? Unless he's supposed to represent a holiday meal...

That does it for Day 14, but stay tuned for Day 15 tomorrow. We're getting down to the last chunk of cards, so be sure not to miss Astral's Advent Observations!

Thursday, December 13, 2018

Astral's Advent Observations - DAY 13!

Welcome back to Astral's Advent Observations, where ancient Egyptian card games are going to help us celebrate our Christianity.

Day 13! We're more than halfway to Christmas!

Today's card is a real scorcher! It's Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys!

General Observation:

The Sacred Phoenix is quite a powerful card. An 8-star Monster with 2400 attack points, it also has the ability to come back on the next Standby Phase after it's destroyed by a card effect. As an added bonus, all Spell and Traps are also burned to cinders upon its return. This card is most played in a Fire King deck, especially with the Field Spell Fire King Island, which allows you to special summon the Phoenix directly from your hand if you control no Monsters. It's the perfect Monster to get out early in the game to quickly overwhelm your opponent while shaking off their destruction effects.

Trivia Observation:

This card was originally printed in the TCG set, Flaming Eternity, where it was even the Monster featured on the pack! Despite being a kind of famous Monster due to its numerous spin-off cards and strategies in the card game, the Phoenix has yet to make any appearances in Yu-Gi-Oh! canon, only in video games like the World Championship series and Duel Links. On another note, "Nephthys" might seem like a strange name to you, but it's actually the name of an Egyptian goddess pertaining to death and rebirth, much like a Phoenix is prone to do in legend. She was even Anubis' Mother!

Personal Observation:

Heh, I actually have a bit of history with this card. I actually pulled it out of my first ever pack of Flaming Eternity back in the day and that wasn't even the only time I got it randomly! We just keep finding each other. Wonder if it's my little Winged Kuriboh/Ojama spirit or something? Anyway, this is another odd pick for an Advent Calendar, unless they're referencing Chestnuts roasting, a Hanukkah Menorah, or the death and rebirth of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Card game sets, always making you think, amirite?

Tank's empty for today, but come back tomorrow for another turbo-charged edition of Astral's Advent Observations!

Wednesday, December 12, 2018

Astral's Advent Observations - DAY 12!

Welcome back to Astral's Advent Observations, where we've got just under two weeks to unearth the rest of this trading card Advent Calendar's treasures!

We've reached 12/12!

Well, we got pretty much the most appropriate card for an Advent Calendar. It's Santa Claws!

NOT THAT GUY!!!

General Observation:

Santa Claws is a very interesting card. While lacking in attack strength despite being a 6-star Monster, you can use its effect to special summon it to your opponent's side of the field in exchange for one of their Monsters and at that turn's End Phase, you can draw an extra card. This can be particularly useful if your opponent has out a powerful Monster and you can just tribute it away and draw a new card for your troubles. Think of it as Lava Golem lite without the damaging effect or absurd attack points. Even without using the effect, though, for one of your own Monsters as a tribute, 2500 defense is nothing to sneeze at.

Trivia Observation:

Santa Claws was originally printed in the TCG set, Premium Gold: Return of the Bling. (Yes, that's really what it's called.) It never appeared in any of the franchise's multimedia, but here's an interesting bit of information for ya: its original Japanese name was "Satan Claus." (You can probably guess why they changed it from an anagram to a pun.) Another cute detail: notice Santa Claws' ATK and DEF stats? Doesn't the correlation of those numbers remind you of something...seasonally appropriate?

Personal Observation:

Wow, yet another one I've never heard of! Kinda surprised they didn't save this one for later on instead of half-way through. In traditional Advent Calendars, Santa doesn't show up until Christmas Eve!

God rest ye merry gentlemen...until tomorrow, that is, when a new episode of Astral's Advent Observations will await you!
