Astral's Advent Observations - DAY 1!

Welcome to the very first installment of Astral's Advent Observations, a series where I gradually go through the contents of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Advent Calendar and provide tidbits about each card I pull out all the way up until Christmas!

Hm...just what could be lurking behind our first box?

Ding ding ding dooooooong! Today's card is the Level 3 effect Monster, Ceremonial Bell!

General Observation:

Being a Level 3 Monster, Ceremonial Bell can be pulled out in a duel immediately, but since it has 0 attack points, it's best set as a defense. With 1850 defense points, it boasts above-average protection against 3-or-4-Star Monsters with more average stats. When face-up, it has the power to reveal the hands of BOTH players as long as it remains on the field, making it both a bit of a gamble for the Duelist using it as well as a boon for strategies involving guessing your opponent's cards.

Trivia Observation:

Ceremonial Bell was originally printed in the TCG as a part of the Spell Ruler set. (Originally Magic Ruler, before Konami decided to set Yu-Gi-Oh! apart from that other game...something the Gathering, I dunno.) Despite being a VERY old card, it only eked out ONE anime appearance in the Zexal episode "Flipping Out Part 2." It was never used and only appeared in a flashback. As far as video games go, this card was used by the NPC Duelist Terence in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force.

Personal Observation:

Wow, I had honestly forgotten this was a card. Just one of those set-fillers in the really early ones that you can vaguely remember if you look at it, but have never actually seen anyone use it. (Unless you count your old Middle School friends building decks out of whatever they could get.)

That wraps it up for Day 1! Hope you enjoyed and come back tomorrow for another Astral's Advent Observations!
